Thanks to our friend Randy Kay at the Ontario Public Interest Research Group (OPIRG) at McMaster and Ruth Weiner of Seven Stories Press, we were lucky enough to interview with Author, Activist, Consumer Protection Advocate and five-time U.S. Presidential candidate Ralph Nader on his new book, Told You So: The Big Book of Weekly Columns.
Ralph Nader will be in Hamilton this Saturday evening for a free talk at McMaster University – you can find the details for the talk below.
Ralph Nader first rose to prominence in 1965 for his book Unsafe at Any Speed, highlighting the need for new safety measures in automobiles, advocacy that led to laws requiring seat belts being installed in new cars. Over the course of his career, Ralph Nader’s advocacy has led to the creation of regulatory agencies and laws designed to protect citizens and consumers, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, The Environmental Protection Agency, the Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Safe Drinking Water Act, among others. His new book, Told You So: The Big Book of Weekly Columns focuses on a wide range of issues – Corporate Power, Media & Commercialism, Environment & Health, Civil Rights and Liberties, Government Inaction, Globalization, and Consumer Protection.
Following his sold out appearance in Hamilton this past summer, You can see Ralph Nader speak at McMaster University on Saturday Night, November 16th at 7 pm, in Room 1A1 (formerly Ewart Angus Centre) McMaster University at 1280 Main Street West.
